What is CoderDojo?

CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit our Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment.

Within the CoderDojo Movement there is a focus on peer learning, youth mentoring and self-led learning. We aim to help young people realise that they can build a positive future through coding and community.

My Involvement

I’ve been running my own workshop in my local area teaching front end web design as well as as some back end using python, building small scale websites and games. I was first inspired t start a CoderDojo when I attended a session myself, I was really impressed by the structure, the organisation and the willingness to learn from young students as young as 7 years old.

Once I realised there was nothing like this in my area, I then decided to create my own Dojo, completely free where kids can come learn and build cool stuff with other like minded students.
